Preventive maintenance plays a vital role in ensuring reliable wastewater treatment operations, allowing potential issues to be identified and addressed before they develop into costly equipment failures or unplanned downtime.
Team ISME recently carried out a technical troubleshooting service for an automotive accessories manufacturer in Negeri Sembilan. During the inspection, pH meter and sensor at the Chemical Reaction Tank were inspected. The sensor bulb had a noticeable purple tint, indicating contamination. The contaminated sensor was replaced with an I-SYSTEM pH sensor using the existing sensor holder and cable trunking.
The service also covered the electromagnetic flow meters installed at the EQ Tank and the final discharge point. One flow meter showed burnt marks on the inner side terminal, while its power supply cable had visible scratches that posed a potential short-circuit risk inside the housing. The second flow meter could not be powered up despite a healthy power supply. Further investigation revealed a blown fuse and evidence of water ingress at the side terminal.
The findings and supporting photograph were documented in the I-SYSTEM Service Report, providing the client’s operations and management teams with a clear understanding for decision making process. By identifying early signs of deterioration, contamination, and electrical faults, preventive maintenance helps extend instrument lifespan, improve process reliability, reduce unexpected downtime, and reducing long-term operating costs.
