A gas turbine meter (volumeter) is commonly used in various industrial and commercial applications to measure the flow volume of nature gas and other gases. Gas turbine meter uses the mechanical energy of gas flowing past a free-spinning rotor in the flow stream. The rotational speed is directly proportional to the velocity of the gas travelling through the meter.
It is suitable for measuring the quantity of neutral, non-aggressive and clean gas such as natural gas, butane, propane, hydrogen, nitrogen and others. In commercial and residential settings, accurate measurement of gas usage is essential for billing customers accurately. Gas utility companies and distribution companies rely on gas meters to determine the volume of gas consumed by the users, ensuring precise and equitable billing.
Gas measurement is also crucial for industrial process controls. In chemical reactions, combustion processes, or material transport, maintaining the right gas velocity ensures that processes run efficiently. This efficiency leads to reduced energy consumption, lower operating costs, and higher production rates.

This compact design does curb cost, but the compact design also makes this device more “sensitive” in their fluid dynamics. On the other hand, the high degree of reproducibility of the measured values is a feature that the Volumeters have in common with the turbine meters. For this reason, the volumeters are aimed at use for internal billing measurements or for plant control, e.g. in burner control systems, where the reproducibility of the measured values is of primary importance for process control and regulation purposes.
- Apparatus for measuring gas volume for internal measurements
- Suitable for neutral, non-aggressive gases (other gases on request)
- Roller counter which registers the total volume and displays it at any time without power supply
- High measuring accuracy
- Horizontal or vertical gas flow
- Optionally with mechanical output clutch
- Special design for aggressive gases possible
An electronic counter replaces the mechanical roller counter. This means that the volumeter does not just remain a volume counter, but also becomes a flowmeter. Both measured values can not only be displayed and output in analogue form, but are also available for serial transmission on a Modbus interface.
This device works self-sufficiently for over 6 years with one set of batteries. An external power supply is optionally available. The electronic counter also offers an error curve linearization, which allows an extension of the measuring range and a reduction of the measuring deviations.
