V-Notch weir is an effective way to measure cleaner effluent for open channel flow measurement, eg. industrial discharge and sewage treatment plant effluent. V-Notch weir is a thin plate weir with a ‘V’ notch cut into it, that is relatively simple and low cost to be fitted into an existing open channel (if size is suitable). However, the V-Notch weir is not designed for submerged flow conditions as the weir crest needs to be high enough to allow for free-flowing discharge.
Weirs are a fixed obstruction across a channel where the liquid passes. As the flow passes over the crest and drops into the downstream channel it is accelerated. V-notch weir has a triangular notch, customarily measuring either 60 or 90 degrees.
- Effective solution for low flow rates
- Simple design that is easy to install
- Lower cost to install
- More accurate solution compared to the parshall flume
- Can be fitted into an existing open channel if the size is suitable
- If the liquid stream being measured is drainage or wastewater, solid debris in the flow could cause repeated clogging problems
I-SYSTEM UOL Series
The UOL series is a non-contact ultrasonic open channel flow meter, with low blind area, high sensitivity, and high stability. It consists of ultrasonic sensor and a wall-mounted converter, complete with display and integral keypad for programming. The UOL series is mainly used for measuring water conservancy irrigation, sewage plants, urban sewage, chemical factory and other industries.
