Prevent Overfill and Leakage in Storage Tanks

Prevent overfill and leakage in storage tank with BAMO Maximat / Maxitop overfill and leakage detectors.

Leakage or overfill in tanks can occur either by accident, negligence or incompetence. Industrial incidents like this cause damage to the storage facility and negatively impact the health and safety of employees. Severe incidents like leakage of toxic chemicals can also threaten the surrounding community, wildlife and the environment. It can permanently damage a community’s water source, whether from groundwater or aquifers. The negligence in the workplace health and safety not only results in costly repair and cleanup fees, but businesses may also have to pay hefty penalties imposed by regulating government bodies.

Preventive measures can significantly minimize the risk of these incidents, thus minimising the operational disruptions. The common causes of leakage are loose or leaking fitting; a broken pipe; or an overfilled tank caused by the pump mechanism. Leakage detection can be achieved through the placement of sensors on the tank; between the inner and outer tank wall or at the containment basin. The introduction of a signaling device will notify employees when leakage is detected, through an audible alarm sound, a flashing light, or notification in the remote monitoring system in a control room.
